Santorini / Thira Airport is conveniently located on the east of the island. While there’s no on-site hotel, there are several good hotels just moments away in Monolithos, Agia Paraskevi and Karterados.
Most hotels close to Thira Airport have standard amenities, like private bathrooms, free wifi, air conditioning and delicious breakfast (usually at an extra cost).
I’ll tell you about them here but don’t dismiss looking at hotel deals in the capital, Fira, the traditional village of Pyrgos or the Kamari Beach area, either.
All are only about a 10-minute drive from Santorini International Airport and offer many accommodation options and other attractions.
Monolithos
Noir Santorini Boutique Hotel
This hotel is modern, minimalistic and clean with friendly service just a 5 – 7 minute walk from Monolithos Beach. The lovely outdoor pool and hot tub are popular, and the hotel provides good breakfast options.
Of course, you get noise from the airport, but the actual rooms are well-soundproofed.
There’s free on-site parking if you have a rental car in Santorini. Although the hotel practically backs onto the runway, walking isn’t really an option. The airport entrance is around the opposite way, and the road’s not ideal for walking.
Some of the airport buses do go via Monolithos. When you get on, ask the driver to stop at Anamar Santorini, which is the next stop after the main bus stop at Monolithos Beach.
The bus will stop a little way past, and then you only have to walk back down the road a bit and then up the dirt driveway.
Dirt track leading to Noir Santorini
If not, you’ll need to get a taxi/transfer. See below.
MyLithos Suites
Another relaxed option within 5 minutes of the airport is MyLithos. Like Noir, it has a great swimming pool, helpful team members and a tasty in-room breakfast.
This tasteful, modern Cycladic-style hotel gives guests a wonderful sea view from every room. And you can reach the beach in 5 – 10 minutes’ walk.
Since this is an aparthotel with suites, you have helpful things like a kettle and toastie maker in the room. There are room options for up to four people.
Memories Beach Hotel
When it comes to service, you’ll have a hard time choosing between these nearby hotels! The Memories Hotel team is exceptionally attentive, and you’ll be made to feel most welcome. The hotel has spacious accommodations with various room configurations.
One of the biggest appeals here is that the hotel is directly across the road from Monolithos black sand beach.
The bus stop is almost next door. So if one of the airport buses that goes to Monolithos coincides with your arrival, that’s an easy transport option.
Studio & Villa Kocis
These are two separate properties. The studio is in a very traditional Cycladic style with built-in furniture. It also has a lovely hot tub.
The spacious, family-friendly villa is similar, although much larger. It has two bedrooms, a proper kitchen, a washing machine and a large outdoor hot tub.
Both the studio and villa are served by a wonderful and generous host. And this is another property very close to the beach.
DL Santorini
DL Santorini is still just a 5-minute drive from the airport. But it’s a little further from Monolithos village and the beach than some of the other hotels.
Worry not, though. It’s a lovely place with an on-site restaurant, a shared pool, and free on-site parking if you’re driving. Plus, they have bikes to hire if you’re feeling energetic.
A Note on Staying in Monolithos
Bear in mind while the hotels below are perfect overnight for late or early flights, there’s not a huge amount to do in the area.
This is how close to the airport you are in Monolithos
But with many of these options, you’re within 5 – 10 minutes walking distance of Monolithos Beach, tavernas and coffee shops if that’s all you need.

If you’re hiring a rental car, then it doesn’t matter too much about the area. For longer stays, you’ll appreciate being at Monolithos.
Accommodations in other parts of the island like this have more space and peace than places in Fira and Oia along the famous Santorini caldera.
You’re actually in a fairly central location so it’s easy to get to Oia village at the top of the island or out to Pyrgos, Ancient Thera and lively Perissa Beach. Or across to Fira for shopping, views and the Archaeological Museum of Thera.
Plus you’re more likely to have free parking. And that’s something a lot of Santorini hotels, particularly in Oia, can’t offer.
If you don’t have transport when you stay near Santorini airport, you can still get about a bit, without taxis, but check bus times. Some of the airport buses go through Monolithos to Fira bus station, but not loads of them.
Getting from the Airport to Monolithos
Despite the proximity to the airport (five minutes or under), you’ll still pay about 20-25 euro for a taxi or private airport transfers.
However, the Fira bus from the airport goes via Monolithos on some services. The cost is 1.60 euro.
Check the K.T.E.L timetable for times. The advertised return buses from Monolothos are the ones that leave from the airport at the same time or five minutes earlier. So you can take those ones from the airport to your Monolithos hotel.
If you’d like to have a car, even for a few hours, then car rentals are easy to collect at the airport. Note you might have to make a minimum two-day booking, even if you don’t need it for the full time.

Karterados
Sakas Residences
This is the perfect place if you need a cheap hotel with extremely helpful service. It has various rooms and apartments in a whitewashed Cycladic building in the village of Karterados.
The average price for the most economical rooms starts at around 50 euro per night.
It’s about a 6-minute drive from the airport, away from the coast, in a very central location. It’s great for getting around with a car or staying onsite to enjoy the shared pool before a flight.
Agia Paraskevi
Agia Paraskevi is classed as Kamari, but it’s very much to the north. It’s convenient for the airport, but it’s not desperately close to the centre of Kamari, so don’t expect to be able to walk to the beach, bars or restaurants there.
You’re best is to get a taxi or transfer here if you’re not driving. You can get the bus, but you need to change at Fira. And that kind of destroys the purpose of staying close to the airport.
SMY Mediterranean White Santorini
This 4-star Hotel is a modern Cycladic property with boho-style decor and various room and suite options. There’s an on-site restaurant because it’s a little out on its own. The guests mention that the wifi here isn’t great, so be prepared for that.
Golden Sunrise Suites
Here, there are a variety of suites and apartments a minute from the beach. All the rooms have fridges, hobs/microwaves and an outdoor space, while several have pools or jacuzzis. As the name suggests, you have a beautiful view of the sunrise over the sea.
Anna Traditional Apartments
As the name suggests, these are lovely traditional apartments. They’re furnished with lots of wood in whitewashed Cycladic buildings. One of the best facilities here is that your booking includes free transfers to and from the airport.
Again, it’s good to have a car here, although you can walk into Kamari and the beach in around 25 minutes.
Alafouzos Studios
These are really reasonably priced self-catering studios. The little kitchenettes mean you can keep costs down and cook for yourself from the nearby supermarkets.
There’s an outdoor pool at the property, really kind owners, and soundproofing, so you’re not disturbed by the planes.
The 2024 dates haven’t been released yet, so check back nearer the time.
Nikki Beach Resort & Spa
This 5-star hotel is one of Santorini’s most popular hotels. It’s a beautiful and lively beachfront resort. Many of the rooms at this 5-star accommodation have private pools or jetted tubs.
It’s about 6 minutes away from the airport with lots of onsite facilities. So it’s a great option if you’re looking for an upscale stay.
Alternatives to Santorini Airport Hotels
I always like to book hotels for a short stay. It’s much more convenient for me to turn up any time within their check-in window than having to meet a host to check into a villa or Airbnb at a set time.
But, if you’re visiting Santorini as a big group and need more space or are staying for more than just a few hours and want a luxe villa to enjoy, then there are some in the area.
Search the usual hotel sites for Almyriki Beach Villa, The Z Private Villa Santorini and Incognito Villas to find a 4-star villa close to the airport.
